Tooth Whitening
Our teeth tend to darken in colour as we get older but now we can turn back the years and restore the youthful appearance of bright, white teeth!
How Does It Work?
The most efficient and long lasting way of whitening teeth is by wearing a thin transparent tray to cover the teeth which holds a whitening gel in contact with the tooth surfaces. The active ingredient, hydrogen peroxide, permeates the enamel to gently remove stains and lighten and brighten the teeth. Whitening can be carried out on the upper or lower teeth separately or both jaws together. The ideal time to apply the gel is overnight and the bleaching process takes two to three weeks to complete. More rapid bleaching can be carried out in the dental surgery, please ask your dentist for details
What Does It Involve?
Impressions of the upper and lower teeth are taken and our experienced technicians construct the closely fitting trays. At a second appointment the trays are checked to ensure that they fit accurately. Your dentist will then show you how to apply the gel to the trays and how to position them over the teeth.
Does It Hurt?
No. People can experience sensitivity whilst whitening is taking place, but this is normally of short duration and resolves on completion of the whitening. If patients are concerned about this or any other aspect of their treatment, they should speak to their dentist who will advise them.
Can Anyone Have Whitening Done?
Whitening is not suitable for patients with very sensitive teeth, nor for very young patients, but most people can benefit from tooth whitening and will see a great improvement in their smile.
Will My Fillings Lighten Up Too?
The colour of existing crowns will not be changed by the bleaching and very discoloured fillings will also remain unchanged. These may need replacement once the treatment is complete.
How Do I Get Started
It is important to get your teeth checked by your dentist before bleaching begins. Your dentist may recommend that you do not proceed with bleaching until some treatment has been carried out to improve your oral health and allow the bleaching to proceed safely.
For example, if the teeth have calculus (“tartar”) around them, the bleaching gel will be prevented from reaching the tooth surface. Careful tooth cleaning by one of our hygienists along with oral hygiene instruction will help achieve the best results.
Your dentist will also advise you if there are crowns or fillings that will need replacing after the bleaching process is completed.
What Is My Investment In A New Smile?
Your dentist will advise you of the bleaching investment before treatment begins.

Re-contouring Smile Design without Drilling (Minimally Invasive Dentistry)
Composite resins that match your tooth colour are bonded to the front of the teeth changing their colour, shape, size, or length, without the need for drilling and injections. Suitable for all ages and nervous patients.

Dental Implants
We are professionals in Dental Implants, which can be used to replace both single and multiple teeth. Dental implants can also be used in association with removable dentures to anchor or improve the stability of the dentures.
Some of the main benefits of Dental Implants include:
The overall improvement of your appearance
The restoration of normal eating and speech
Increased denture retention
Dental Implants have a very high success rate and usually great longevity. Placement of an implant to replace a single tooth when compared to placing a fixed bridge offers many advantages including:
Preserving tooth structure on adjacent teeth which would have to be reduced to support a fixed bridge.
Allowing better access for cleaning between the teeth when compared with a fixed bridge.
Dental Implants are an excellent alternative for teeth that cannot have root canal treatment and need to be removed, for example a tooth that is cracked or too broken down to keep.

Cosmetic Orthodontics
This is a branch of cosmetic dentistry which is concerned with correcting misaligned teeth purely for cosmetic reasons and focuses on the teeth visible when you smile. This is a particularly good treatment if you have suffered mild relapse after orthodontic treatment, or you have misaligned front teeth only. Treatment can typically be completed within a short space of time and often much quicker than conventional orthodontics.
The system Alfie uses is Invisalign Go.
